rBook Teacher’s Edition
A Practical Roadmap for Whole- and Small-Group Instruction
The Next Generation rBook Teacher’s Edition is the cornerstone of READ 180 instruction, providing a clear instructional path for teachers to use in Whole- and Small-Group direct instruction.
The rBook is organized around nine Workshops that provide enough content for approximately one year of instruction. The Workshops include instruction in Science, Social Studies, Literature, and Life Skills.
Stage B: rBook – Workshop Overview
The rBook carefully scaffolds instruction, building students’ knowledge and mastery as they move through each section of an rBook Workshop. Click the buttons below to see how the rBook scaffolds instruction for the Stage B Workshop: Under Pressure.

Build Background Knowledge
Anchor Videos introduce each rBook selection and help students build background knowledge for the Workshop theme.
Introduce Academic Vocabulary
Students begin each Workshop by exploring the topic and building high-utility academic vocabulary they will encounter across content areas.
Readings 1-3
rBook Readings
Three progressively more complex texts on a similar topic support a recursive review of academic vocabulary, build student knowledge of the content areas, and reinforce comprehension skills.Stretch Text
An additional, grade-level reading supports differentiated instruction for students who are ready to encounter a more challenging text.
Extended Writing
Differentiated writing instruction moves students from a single paragraph in Workshops 1-3 to a multi-paragraph essay in Workshops 4-9.
21st Century Literacy
Students are guided through an "internship on a page" as they are instructed in and assessed on college and career skills and strategies.
Informative Assessment
At the conclusion of every workshop, students complete a performance- based Wrap-Up Project, requiring them to synthesize all readings, analyze information, and evaluate options.
rSkills Tests, curriculum-based progress monitoring assessments, test Higher Order Thinking skills and critical reading skills.
